What is Broker Tick and Exchange Tick?

53 sec read

Got a mail from one of the reader(Stock Stop) of marketcalls about Tick datafeed. Here we go.

It is nice exeperience reading ur mails and since I was working on this tick, I thouhgt i will also comment on it.

BROKER TICK
TICK in my option is continuous tick coming from broker to user or retailer. this kind of tick is called as BROKER TICK, since it is coming from broker and hence it can vary broker to broker but generally it is same across.

Moneylan is providing interval data not actually TICK, as it is of 4 second interval, this can be achieved by making intraday bar size to 4 seconds too and then taking it’s data.

EXCHANGE TICK

exchange is sending ticks to all brokers or institutions as per order gets executed and OHLCV is sent to all. But I suppose it is huge data as if we consider orders getting executed per 8-10 ms then it will be huge and we never get a EXANCHAGE TICK. I searched but could not get exchange tick. If u guys have some resouce, that will be agood information.

MISPRICING WITH TICKS – you  can see may times that OPEN RATE OR LOW OR HIGH sometimes is different than first tick price coming from our broker.

Some people gets confused with TICK with ticker data too.

This is my opinion or experience and which can vary with facts, as u guys are master than me.

regards,
