Get to Know about Datafeed Vendors and Which Data Vendors to use?

2 min read

In the context of financial markets, data vendors are companies that provide data and information about market prices, trading volumes, and other metrics to traders and investors. In India, there are both legal and illegal data vendors that provide data and information about the NSE, BSE, MCX, and other exchanges.

Data vendors offer a wide range of data feeds that provide different types of data and information about financial markets. Some examples of the types of datafeeds that may be offered by data vendors include:

  1. Real-time datafeeds: These datafeeds provide real-time updates on market prices, trading volumes, and other metrics as they occur in the market.
  2. Historical datafeeds: These datafeeds provide data and information about market prices, trading volumes, and other metrics from previous periods. This type of data can be useful for technical analysis and backtesting trading strategies.
  3. Level 1 datafeeds: These datafeeds provide basic data and information about an asset, such as its current price, trading volume, and bid/ask spread.
  4. Level 2 datafeeds: These datafeeds provide more detailed data and information about an asset, including the orders that are currently being placed in the market and the sizes of those orders.
  5. Fundamental datafeeds: These datafeeds provide data and information about the financial performance and health of a company, such as its revenue, earnings, and balance sheet.
  6. News and event datafeeds: These datafeeds provide updates on market-moving news and events, such as earnings announcements, regulatory updates, and economic indicators.

Everything that you need to know about datafeeds

Legal data vendors are companies that have been authorized by the NSE, MCX or other regulatory authorities to provide data and information about financial markets. These vendors are required to follow strict rules and regulations regarding the accuracy and reliability of the data they provide, and they may be subject to fines or other penalties if they violate these rules.

There are several legal data vendors in India that provide data feeds for trading softwares like Amibroker, Metastock, and Ninjatrader for the exchanges, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), and the NSE Currency Derivatives (CDS). Some examples of legal data vendors for these exchanges include:

  1. Globaldatafeeds: Globaldatafeeds is an Indian company that provides real-time data and information about the NSE, BSE, and MCX.
  2. Truedata: Truedata is an Indian company that provides data and information about the NSE, BSE, and MCX.
  3. eSignal: eSignal is a financial market data and trading software provider that offers datafeeds for multiple exchanges, including the NSE, BSE, and MCX.
  4. Accelpix: Accelpix is an Indian company that provides data and information about the NSE, BSE, and MCX.
  5. Refinitiv: Refinitiv is a financial market data and analytics company that provides data and information about financial markets, including the NSE and other Indian exchanges.

It is important to note that these are just a few examples of legal data vendors in India, and there are many other companies that may also offer data and information about these exchanges.

Illegal data vendors, on the other hand, are companies that provide data and information about financial markets without the necessary authorization or compliance with regulatory rules. These vendors may obtain their data through unauthorized or illegal means, such as hacking into exchanges or unauthorized circulation of the datafeed without Exchange permission. Trading on the basis of illegally obtained data is considered illegal in many countries, including India.

It is important for traders and investors to only use data from reputable and legal data vendors in order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the information they use to make trading decisions. Using data from illegal or untrustworthy vendors can lead to poor investment decisions and potentially significant financial losses.

  1. Exchange Data is public information.

Designating authorised vendors, restricting distribution is a way to earn extra money. Unethical.

Rather exchange should open up data for people free.

    1. Across the Globe data is a primary business for the exchanges as they have prime customers like Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, Goolge, Yahoo and HFT traders, Business TV channels etc who pay money in crores to these exchanges for getting realtime data

  2. I am looking for corporate event data in real time. Couldn’t find any vendor who provides API for such data. Any idea who can be the best source . We have BSE and NSE data on the site but that needs to be scrapped. want to use legitimate and fast feed
