If you are an account holder of HDFC Bank and if you don’t operate your savings or current account for a year then HDFC Bank will levy a charge of Rs 50 on inoperative account. This charge is applicable across savings and current account on per quarter basis effective from 1st Jan 2012 onwards.
Though there is no cash handling fee for deposits of up to Rs 1 lakh in a day at home branch for ‘non-managed customers’, amounts above this level will attract a charge of of Rs 25 per Rs 50,000 and part thereof for such clients.

The bank will also charge its ‘non-managed’ customer if he deposits over Rs 100,000 in cash during a day in their savings account at the home branch.Non-managed customers are typically those clients who do not have a private banking or wealth management relationship with the bank.
The customer will have to pay Rs 25 for every Rs 50,000 cash deposit in a day over Rs 100,000 in their home branch.
These fees are part of the new set of service charges introduced by HDFC Bank from January 1, 2012.
Also If the average monthly balance (AMB) of saving account in urban and metro branches is between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, the bank would charge Rs 250 per month.
If Average montly balance (AMB) is less than Rs 5,000, then Rs 350 per month would be levied

People once find a/c bal Nil, will automatically leave the account permanently.

If pvt sect banks imposed panalty on mab,it will certainly hampered bnks business,custmer will never look into their a/c.
If some one a/c bal reached Nil,why he will deposit money for panalty.
