What is ASCII data?

In ASCII data in financial markets indicates the stock market data open, high, low, close, volume, open interest. Many real-time data vendors like globaldatafeeds, true data provide intraday 1min ASCII data, and also one can import the intraday 1min ASCII data from some of the popular trading terminals like NEST, Sharekhan etc.

What is the use of ASCII data?

One can import the ASCII data to maintain a historical data repository which is very much useful from a traders pespective to backtest large amount of dataset and one can verify and validate the effectiveness of their trading strategies.
