Data Visualization – Interaction between stock market price and news article of New York Times

This Data Visualization project was selected as semifinalist in Adobe ADAA 2010!

This is the an interactive information design, visualizing the relationship between the stock market price of the company and the number of article that mentioned the compnay in The Newyork Times. User can select from the list of Fortune 100 companies of 14 different industries and navigate through the daily information of Dowjones Index, Stock Price and the number of News article that mentioned the company.When the user clicks on the specif date it retrieves the headline of news article which does not necessarily contains the company name.

Current Data Visualization for the stock IBM along with dowjones chart and the amount of news about the company from Newyork times.

1)Is there corelation between stock market price and news articles?
2)How both influence each other?
3)When media mentions certain companies or industries, does it cause any changes on stock market?
4)Stock market change becomes news > People buy/sell more or less > Market price changes
