Nifty Futures Outlook – Bearish Bias for June 2025

1 min read

Despite hovering near recent highs, the Nifty Futures setup indicates signs of exhaustion and potential downside risk. A confluence of technical signals and participant behavior highlights the case for a bearish outlook:

1. Market Profile Breakdown

  • A strong acceptance below the pullback low suggests sellers have taken control.
  • Excess near 25300 from previous sessions now acts as strong overhead resistance.
  • The Value Area has shifted lower, and the latest profile exhibits weak structural confidence with narrow ranges and poor participation.

2. FII Positioning Turns Defensive

  • Net OI data shows FIIs holding a dominant short bias in index futures.
  • For June, FIIs have consistently built short positions, while long additions remain flat or declining—reflecting cautious institutional sentiment.

3. Volume Profile Concerns

  • Multiple low-volume sessions (especially on June 10 and 11) indicate a lack of conviction from buyers near the highs.
  • The failure to attract new volume at elevated levels reflects potential distribution, not accumulation.

4. Daily Structure Breakdown

  • A visible Excess wick on the daily candle in the 25200–25300 zone shows rejection.
  • Combined with the weakness in Market Profile, this zone becomes a critical resistance band for short-term traders.

5. Poor Low in ‘AB’ TPO

  • A poor low at 24650 from a previous session is yet to be repaired.
  • Market mechanics often aim to revisit such inefficiencies—making 24650 a viable downside target.

6. Daily Sentiment Turns Negative

  • The Turbo RSI has turned bearish on the daily timeframe, breaking the rising streak with falling momentum.
  • This shift typically signals short-term weakness and potential for deeper correction.

7. Weekly Sentiment Enters Overheat Zone

  • Weekly Turbo RSI stands at 65.44 and has been rising for 9 consecutive bars.
  • Extended bullish sentiment without a correction typically leads to mean-reverting behavior, especially when paired with fading volume. It is a moderate bearish behavior

While the broader trend may remain structurally intact on the weekly chart, the short-term signals point toward bearish pressure. Unless Nifty sustains a breakout above 25300 with strong volume and profile confirmation, the risk remains skewed to the downside with 24650 as the likely magnet for the June series and possibly lower if the price action fail to cross above 25200–25300 range.

Key Levels to Watch:

  • Resistance: 25200–25300 (Excess + Volume Rejection Zone)
  • Potential Target: 24650 (AB Poor Low Target) and possibly even lower.
