Smooth Oscillator

High probability bottom signal in Nifty Future on the EOD charts. Autocorrelation maintains negative which indicates a possible mean reversion mode in Nifty futures and the oversold smooth oscillator indicates the oversold level. 8498.1 is the previous low on 10th Feb 2015. And also noticeably there is a gap below 8427 which remains open since 15th Jan 2015.

Low risk players can go for bullish option strategies(Diagonal Bull Call Spread, Vertical Bull Spread,Covered Call (OTM)) in nifty options instead of naked longs.

  1. If u r just a person trying to help others with technical side of trading just stick to that. Don’t give Headlines like this to lure poor chaps into traps “High Probability Bottom in Nifty Future? April Series Outlook”

  2. Dear Tom / Rajandran, I believe there is nothing wrong with sharing a personal opinion (which is completely based on technical analysis). However, such posts should always be followed up conclusive comments, as to how technical indicators can help / fail (whichever is applicable). Giving a real time example like above , will be more helpful, if followed by how nifty and the mentioned indicators are functional and related or not-related to each other.

I am eager to hear from you, on an update on above technical setup. I hope this is taken in a healthy way.

    Thank you

    1. Strategy is having 67% winning ratio post commissions and slippages. Strategy doesnt have stoploss (highly riskly). Exit is not target/Stoploss based. But purely on Autocorrelation and Smooth Osciallator. And havent given a Exit signal yet!.

Disclosure : Iam in long and fully understand about the risk involved in the strategy. May not suit others trading style!

  3. Thankyou Rajan for your prompt response. I will be watching this post on the above technical setup. I am a learner, and curiously follow your website for technical learning. Request you to give conclusive comments on all trading setups that you share here. This ensures that your admirers like me, are not lost midway, and see you as a mentor.

    Appreciate all your efforts.

  4. Based on Friday’s movement, technically do you think the market can still go down or pause for some time around these levels

  5. Hi Rajandran,

You are very much right in your opinion.

My view is that we have witnessed a whole series of 7% loss from upside but still there is no consolidation or support formed in charts which suggests that ‘long only traders shall go and buy nifty outright. However, after such a steep fall, all technical indications point towards an oversold zone which says that yes, it may be a good idea to buy at this juncture, specially if we take into account the bigger picture of the prevailing bull market. A little discretion , though, i will put on my behalf is to buy with a conservative target of 150-200 points which might be seen as a part of short covering.

However, If Nifty retains the levels of 8480-8500 on EOD basis, it may reaffirm the fact that the short term support is at 8200 levels which actually needs to watched upon.

    Regards,
    Traders’ Chowk.
